1040X Amended Tax Returns

Mistakes can happen. Use Form 1040X, Amended U.S. Individual Income Tax Return, to correct a previously filed Form 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ or electronically filed return. When a taxpayer realizes that the tax return they filed has a math error, missing deductions, income overstated or other mistake, they may need to correct it by filing an amended return.
